Looking to get Pregnant

  Step 4: Relax After Intercourse.

Studies have found that relaxing and staying still for 10 to 15 minutes after intercourse can increase the chances of conception occurring. You don’t need to lie in any special position like with your feet over your head. Just rest however it feels comfortable for you. Relaxing after sex makes it possible for sperm to travel past the cervix with greater ease. This is important because if sperm cannot make it past this barrier into the uterus, they will be unable to reach the egg for fertilization to occur. While keeping still doesn’t 100 percent guarantee that you’ll get pregnant, it can help.

Step 5: Don’t Stress About Conception.

When you’re eager to have a child, it’s easy to become anxious and fixated on getting pregnant, but becoming stressed over the need to make a baby can actually do more harm than good. Stress can disrupt natural hormone levels and make you less likely to conceive after intercourse. Try not to worry about when it will happen. Relax, enjoy the intimacy with your partner and follow Steps 2, 3 and 4 until you achieve success.

If you struggle for longer than a few months, see your doctor again for more advice about how to get pregnant. Your doctor can run tests on you and your partner to determine if there may be a fertility issue to blame.
